Grayling Heaven 2nd set of Photo's

Well the day was over cast with a wee bit of a breeze so not bad at all for a day down the river.
Due to the fact that we knew where the grayling were after casing the river for a couple weeks of so it was a case of getting geared up and going to the hotspots, which did'nt involve a great deal of walking, which was nice as we were going up a wee hill loch in the evening which always seems an age to get to.

Shane went down the run first, this starts at a bend where two stones, split the current at about one foot to two and a half feet deep and quite fast, dropping into a hole about five feet and gradually getting deeper and slower, grayling can be picked up all the way along this glide, depending on the hight of the river.
Shane never touched anything, so I waited until he was about 20 yards down the glide, before I moved in.
I started to work the shallow water behind the two stones, which is shallow and fast and about third dink down, everything went solid and agrayling came up to the surface ,rolled and was off "bugger", Shane laughed, but he was half way down the glide now, so I had this bit to myself andc next cast got one at 2lb 7 ounces as per picture no.10.
So Shane went in next as they had been found , we usually go a fish each, and again he had nothing, so in I go and get another as shown in picture 11 & 13, which was just under th 3lb, it was 2lb 15 ounces "gutted" but what a fish , don't get many of these beasts down south.
Yet again Shane went down, you guessed it "nowt". cont:-

By this time he's getting grief off me and he ain't a happy man, so back I go, to cut along story short I had 8 grayling on this part of the river pictures 11,14,17,16,25,26,29,&31.
Shane managed a couple here also but they were 1lb 8ounces each pictures 3,4&5 and he was getting grumpy.
So we moved up river a wee bit to our next "banker"which has a narrow neck slowing to a long glide picture 7, Shne went down firs and got another"small one about1lb 10 ounces, I got in after him and managed to get some good fish out of here also all over 2lb pics 18,19 &22, Shane also had another, then on up to the next bit of river where I had another of2lb 14ounces pics 8 &9.
Shane was really depressed by now as he had nothing "decent" by this rivers standards,
he redeened himself at our last baker with a fish of magical 3lb mark "bang on 3", and I got nothing down this swim, but as you can see a great afternoon out, and Shane had his first 3lb"he was well chuffed"
Just a wee P.S here the week before this I dropped a grayling at the net which Shane was netting for me, we reckon was over 4lb, so hopefully one of us may get actually catch him the next time!!!!!!
